A rather pale blue, small c version of the conservative ethos with little to frighten the odd Guardian reader who ventures in error.
There is a sense that the blogger is a little over-devoted to the status of marriage but not in the Tebbitt sense of fulminating against "buggers and single mothers" more a sort of "it only costs fifty quid and ten minutes down the registry office" so why not devotion.
Probably not for the american crazies who will be deeply wounded by the sensible views held by the blogger.

Small c Conservative?
As a member of the Conservative party with fairly mainstream views in the party (from what I can tell by talking to other members) I like to think of myself as a big C conservative.
I am sorry that I may not meet your stereotype of a scary Conservative.
The comment you pull is interesting. I do think marriage is important, but I do not see why legal relations should be assumed by the state when they are so easy to create and people may have wished to avoid creating such relationships.
Apart from that, thanks for the write up.
