A comment on skyscrapercity by some arse too idle to do his own research got me looking round t'internet and I found these marvelous collections of pastcards from Birstall and Batley and then the Kirklees Image archive alas Bradford seems a little less organised in getting its collections of historic images on the steam internet than Kirklees. This did however rather surprise me - I can't think of anything further from nature than Bradford's abysmal (and smelly) concrete monstrosity of a library, I also was somewhat surprised to see Aunty Beeb has swallowed another website (they also gobbled up h2g2, the collection of Beeb discussion and do-gooder websites can be found at the DNA hub .... now that looks like the sort of thing that should be done by government and I suppose these days the BBC is the nearest thing the UK has to a government (at least it's a darn sight more honest than the Queen's current collection of ministers).
The Francis Frith collection is also worth a mention
Update the arsehole has posted back on skyscrapercity ... fortunately before I upped the images he was after - he can whistle for them now. The location of the Bradford Library image collection has also been found by someone who thinks all I do is criticise, judge and hate! Bah humbug!
