It recently struck me how casually americans use scatological terms as light banter whereas over here, where proper english is spoke, such terms cause greater offense. So I'm off to look at the facts and think about the causes. This post will grow as I think (something I usually do sat on the toilet).
Well the first interesting but non-scatological fact is that in the US beaver is female pubic hair, whereas in the UK it is a beard or bearded man .... I mustn't forget this and wrongly assume american women who say they like stroking beavers are interested in me. We also have an interesting website and the fact that the US and the UK agree that the most offensive swear-word is "lady's front bottom".
Before I forget links to two lady US bloggers - firstly one who you hope hates men so much she'll flay the skin from your back then lock you in the cupboard while she makes passionate love with her girlfriend, she calls herself Spiky but I'll call her the Marquess de Sade the second is the sweet, innocent girl next door who occasionally forgets to wear panties thatdarngirl or to me Naughty Miss Innocent.

Baht: by super bowl I meant
Baht: by super bowl I meant the war effort...Pat Tillman just one guy who was a pro football player and left his 3.4 million dollar contract after 9 /11 and when into the special forces...I'm sorry it is the Americanized antidote if you will...
not at all
Tillman's virtually a British soldier having shared the fate of many British troops in that he was killed by US Forces.
Baht: We just having kids
Baht: We just having kids coming back at fast rates with limbs gone and bad head trips...You have to understand Americans hate war...we do but we are proud of those that will take a year or two out of their lives and family lives so that we can win the super bowl...It is simply not the times of the Vietnam war! Americans now see the effect that our Marines and Soldiers suffered because we are the children of those men...Its too raw and personal! I believe in Freedom of speech such as my father my hero who served his country Marine..Vietnam...No one one wants blood shed....No one
Confused!
Amie your boobs must be out because I'm so distracted I can't understand what you mean.
It's the reference to the super bowl that confuses - are you saying americans are proud of atheles but not soldiers, I can't really believe that is what you mean but were that the situation it would be shocking. People should always be proud of the sacrifice and bravery of their armed forces regardless of what they think about the war their leaders have sent them to fight. Certainly here in the UK there is universal admiration for the bravery of the army and universal disgust they are fighting an unnecessary war occasioned by our government following the US rather than restraining it with wise counsel, sadly we elected a particular weak and vainglorious religious nutcase as Prime Minister so for that we must in part take the blame for the stupidity of US policy.
Alternatively you could be referring to the War on Terror as something that can be won like the Super Bowl in which case I would totally disagree - terrorism will always exist if only because it is the last resort of people against bad government - true it is frequently miss-used but sometimes for the good of the state it is necessary to topple the state and rebuild it. The correct response of a good state to terrorism is to treat it as a crime, pursue terrorists as criminals and afford them the full protection of the law and a fair trial all things burnt in the fire of US rage at 9/11 precisely the thing that Britain should have advised against and didn't because Blair was too cowardly to stand up and be counted.
As to not wanting bloodshed sometimes it is necessary, where the US fails is it favours shedding the blood of enemy civilians to risking the blood of its troops more often than it should. In this at least I think the British better the US, although of course we aren't perfect, in having less of a tendency to cause co-lateral damage out of all proportion to the military need.
Baht: I understand your
Baht: I understand your point, and yes there will always be terrorist...and I don't condone blood shed infact that tears at the very moral thread of my heart because I am an ER nurse and I want to save people due to my Hippocratic oath that day I walked across the stage...and I have had my glory...but I stand behind the president as I am bless to live in a country as rich as this one...where my son can walk down the street and not be killed by commoner...coarse we don't live in east LA either but I had a choice and that is the difference...I also never try and put my thought processes on others because I believe in freedom of speech and all our forefathers that died to protect that right!
